There is no scientific evidence to support this belief that pregnant women should avoid papaya and pineapple. But since these fruits are rich in enzymes many believes this may cause abortion. But there is no scientific evidence to support this belief.

Cashews and cantaloupe are safe to be consumed during pregnancy.

If you had high blood sugar during the previous delivery you are at increased risk of developing gestational diabetes when eating high sugar containing fruits for eg. Pineapple. Hence FRUITS WITH HIGH SUGAR MAY BE AVOIDED only if it was so. Maternal diabetes can result in large baby

No. Its a common myth in India that certain fruits like pineapples, papayas etc, should be avoided during pregnancy. That is not true. All fruits are good to be had except where the pregnant woman has been diaganosed with diabetes. In that case, she is told to abstain from all sugary, starchy foods and fruits too. Otherwise, all fruits can be had.

any fruit can be eaten, but papaya and chickoo should be taken in lesser quantity. In fact u can eat any fruit as every fruit contains one or the other type of vitamins so u should eat every thing which is nutrities but be sure nothing is taken in excess. and even there is a saying if u eat all kind of fruits ur baby will also love to eat them later as when u consume some thing during pregnency they get the taste of it.

No.. I've been pregnant five times and ate every fruit on the branch and vine and never had a problem. So eat what ever kind of fruit you want to.

I've heard of people eating pineapple to induce labor but it certainly didn't work for me!

I hadn't heard that. I know that you should avoid some herbs and teas, but I hadn't heard to avoid fruit.
