It is friendly as there are no points involved and winning or loosing doesn't matter with the exception of the teams pride.

competitive macthes when there are cups/trophies at stake is the opposite.

You would hope that the players would always play in a sprtsmanlike manner all games

friendly games are non-competitive so nothing is at stake. They are normally just used to increase match fitness for footballers.

I wouldn't class too many sports as "friendly", there is always an edge of competitiveness, which makes us watch it.

I believe its called a "friendly" when it is being played basically for fun. Kind of like the NFL pre-season or the MLB's Cactus League, it doesn't really count for anything.
