This is because if a person has low self asteem then being able to hurt someone else gives them a sence of higher self-asteem and control.

I know someone like that and I cannot stand him. For years I would tell him that and go into elaborate detail. He LOVED this till I finally wised up and realized he was getting from me exactly what he wanted.For some people, negative attention means they have a kind of power over you, even if it's the wrong kind of power- they possess the ability to "get under your skin". These kind of people I think are supreme losers...PS My next Plan for this creep is to "kill him with kindness". How's that sound?

Among all my relatives, friends and acquaintences no one seems to exhibit your example.consistently. Of course, the headlines are full of people like you describe. power-tripping. and it's the wrong way to go about getting to know a person's parameters but you could learn a lot about a person by how easily or how hard you could get them riled up.
