Ever notice that the suspect on COPS never loses his cigarette?

Question

In a high persuit chase on foot, the suspect always manages to rip his shirt on a fence in an attempt to run from the cops, he loses a flip-flop (why are they always wearing flipflops?), and after they wrestle the guy to the ground, cuff him, slam his face against the payment and then throw him against the patrol car, he still has that cigarette in his mouth. How do they manage to keep that cigarette?

They are always wearing flip flops because they are cheap and the cigarette mystery is because they have a PEZ like dispenser for cigarettes. Once one is burned down, another pops out. You have to believe this is true :)

It's called acting, Have you ever tried to run away from someone with a cigarette in your mouth? And the reason they are always wearing flip flops is because cops think that all criminals have to be dressed like homeless people.
