You have a pop-up blocker which isn't allowing the window to open?
If it is the one built into Internet Explorer/Firefox there should be a yellow bar at the top of the screen that comes up allowing you to alter these settings.
If not, it could be your browser isn't accepting cookies or allows Java Applets to automatically start. To fix this it should be in Preferences/Options, and under security settings, put your security down one notch and try again

Yahoo chess has been having lots of problems since they changed their format. I recommend you try playing free online chess at http://www.freechess.org
You can also download a free interface at http://www.babaschess.net for a positive chess experience. It's all free and you won't get pop-ups or ads like other sites have.

fix your problem by doing the following.for cards and board games/yahoo. i have tryed to cover all common problems i know of here!
yahoo now uses popups to enter rooms,DO NOT turn off popup blocker,no need.if you do you get flooded with popups. click on popup blocker click on always allow.add yahoo.com to list. then the 1st thing you do when you enter lounge is check play small window in option box. if you don't and enter room you get grey screen(,if you leave it ) you get errors in logging in..once in small room you can expand it,,you only see top half of cards but you can play.and see chat area so you can talk to other players.yahoo is now running sales ads in rooms. email them and let them know what you don't like about new format i did, if everyone does this maybe they will stop it. the site to complain using( feedback) link this site will also help answer your problems. http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoogames/..... if you are having TINY FONTS(letters) its because of java's new update,to fix go to control panel open internet options advance tab, unclick the 2 java listed click apply close.back to normal. if it says ERROR 999 answers and some help found here

more information needed....is it a program (game) or onweb site that you are playing in?
If program, contact the maker. If on site, problem with memory or firewall may be blocking the "popup".
Look at your safety solfware and see if it blocked it.
Also look at the program itself - how much memory does it require? - good luck :)
