The preseason doesnt mean anything, and I agree with you that it should be only 2 games, the first for the scrubs and the second for the starters. I dont know what to say about your Lions doing well in the preseason and then falling apart in the regular season, it seems like rooting for the lions is a lost cause, especially with their questionable draft day choices (3 WR's in the first round 3 years in a row?!?). And finally, the preason is NOTHING to get excited over. So theres your answers. GO PATRIOTS!

It gives the coaches an oppurtunity to look at the lower roster players and the rookies. Do I get excited at a 4-0 preseason record NO, nor a 0-4 record. I would like for them to change it to two preseason games, but I don't think it will happen. On Sun. night football, they were saying the owners would never vote on it because they don't pay the players for preseason games. I'm assuming they are meaning the players that are trying to make it on the roster. If you extended the regual season then the owners would lose money because all players essentially don't get paid for preseason. Obviouslly, those with contracts are sallaried so they get paid regardless, but a few wouldn't untill they made the team.

NO. Preseason football is nothing more than a way to evaluate rookies and free agents. The entrenched vets get a few snaps to get acclimated, but that's all. It's not worth it in the long run, for I've seen good preseason teams tank at crunch time and vice versa.

They arent essential but they are needed to gain game experience for younger players and to build cohesiveness as a unit when youre on the field. Four games in the preseason has been leading to lots of injuries but they need something at least to prepare for the season at full contact.

The preseason means absolutily nothing, most of the players are not trying as hard in the preseaon just for that reason, they dont wanna get hurt before the regular season

No. The preseason is useless from an "expectations" standpoint...but is a complete cash cow for the owners and the league. Just keep praying that no-one gets hurt....

I don't even watch preseason. The only motivation in the game is that the individual players secure their positions. The score means nothing! Nothing!!!!

In my opinion pre sesaon football means nothing to the players who are already starters on their team. If you are fighting for a roster spot then yes it does. Pre season football gives them the chance they won't have once the season starts to showcase their talents to the coaches. It also gives rookies that same chance.

preseason is only good to see how your 2nd and 3rd string teams are.most teams dont play starters for more than 1 or 2 plays, so the games dont matter.but it is good 2 see how deep your bench goes.

Normally they dont , but heres how it affects "YOUR TEAM"
The Lions are not completly sold on Kittner as there starting QB, so you need the pre-season to determine who gets that job. Its not worth getting excited for, but positon battles make it somewhat tolerable.
