Even if you have a hardware firewall in a router, you still need to have separate Internet Security Suites on each individual computer for optimal safety. I highly suggest you purchase a really good suite. While there are many free programs, free is as free does. Nothing is really for free. There is always a price to pay somewhere, and in the case of free software the price could be your computers health and even life. A virus in one networked computer will jump to each computer on a network if not protected individually. I strongly suggest you purchase security suites for each networked computer. Stay away from Norton-Symantic. They are known virus mongers, and are nearly impossible to fully remove from a system they infect(installed upon). They manufacture their programs so they can not be fully removed without getting a "special" removal tool from the company. Which is hard to nail them down on.

So, yes, get a really good Internet Security Suite for each individual computer. It is well worth the money when you consider what a new computer would cost.

If u r on the network then there r two options

first is that ur server is having the Internet security setup for the client computers because he is basically connect to the internet if the server is safe then their is no need for internet on client and from server we setup security for each computers in the network

secondly u can have different internet security on each computer it depends on the network administrator

and if u want client security of ur own that u can have a security program for ur own computer only

Each computer should be individually protected... every machine has its own memory, disk, files, and is susceptible to attack, so you really must protect them all. A common money-saving tactic is to buy a full blown security suite like Notron and McAfee and use it on your main computer that you use all the time, and use all freeware on the other machines, AdAware and Spybot for spyware, AVG for antivirus, ZoneAlarm for a personal firewall, etc...
