When you are shopping for LCD, and they advertise 17" monitor, does it always mean the same thing? Is it always diagonally, or what?

LISTEN to what do i tell you.
yes the guys are all right it is diagonally in all displaying devices.
BUT... a 15" LCD is ALMOST the same size of a 17" DESKTOP MONITOR. this is why the 17" includes the frame of desktop too but in LCD there is no frame or the frame is too small.

All screen size on standard monitors is determined by measuring diagonally from corner to corner.

It is always Diagonally, however you get normal ratio LCDs & wide screen, so in a widescreen 17 inch screen area is less.

they are measured diagonally all the time LCD plasma tube it dosent matter then there is also resolution that is measured wxh pixels to make pic from side to side and top to bottom

screens are always measured diagonally, this includes computer and tv screens.

they are still meassured diagonally same as the CRT (older monitors).
