The American Philatelic Society site is great - also look at http://www.virtualstampclub.com/inherit.html .

Stamp collecting is NOT out of fashion! That's ridiculous - just look at all the action on the stamp section of eBay! Stamp collecting has changed, though, and today's stamp collectors are pickier and more frugal than they used to be - nobody will pay you more than comparable things sell for on eBay.

Stamp collecting has very much fallen out of fashion. I tried selling stuff recently to a stamp shop but they told me that anthing less than 60 years old is worth nothing. Even unused stamps with the gum still on them are worth less than face value.

Try eBay. Look for any stamp clubs in your neighbourhood.

Go to the American Philatelic Society. Their site offers suggestions on how to sell stamps. http://www.stamps.org/

Be sure you know what you're selling so that you don't get ripped off and also so that you don't list a stamp incorrectly when offering it for sale. The Scott catalogue is a good catalogue to look through for this purpose. It's lists all the countries in several volumes so look for the volume that has the country you're looking for. You can find Scott catalogues at bookstores and in sometimes in libraries.
My suggestion is don't go to a stamp dealer to ask for offers unless they're very reputable and don't expect to get full catalogue value for your stamps, it just won't happen.

I don't know what country your stamps are from, but if they're U.S. stamps there is a website that gives listings of American Stamp dealers at http://www.asdaonline.com/index.php

Good luck!

My dad has ALBUMS full! He even admits that he's a bit too obsessed. He doesn't know what to do with them anymore. He has about 30 of each stamp.
