Thalia for example, she was in soaps, a kiddie music group (timbiriche), and everything else. American celebrities seldom do this.

Paulina Rubio: She was in the soaps,now she "sings."
Gloria Trevi has a couple of tacky movies.
Daniela Romo sings pretty good and she's in the soaps and movies.

Basicamente porque las grandes productoras quieren sacar el maximo rendimiento posible de las estrellas que han fabricado. Muchos millones de personas ven las telenovelas y si sacan discos, la promocion ya esta hecha y no tienen que gastar dinero en darlos a conocer.
