I have a darkish corner in my greenhouse and wanted to find out how to go about growing mushrooms in there. I don't mind what sort, maybe a mix of button and something slightly more interesting - can anyone help?

Thanks for some of the replies. I am not intending to grow magic mushrooms. When I said 'more interesting' I kinda meant in a culinary way:-)

Temp, humidity and darkness are crucial to growing mushrooms. Depending on what kind you want to grow depends on what type of medium you will need to grow them in. For most you need total darkness or they will melt in the sun. If you live in the south you can go to just about any cow pasture and find them. You need to find and area near water with an over growth of trees and arrive at sunrise and you can usually find them in among the cow pies. Don't use this as your only identifying trait, but one way to tell if their the right one is crush the stem and if it turns purple then it could be the right one.

NOTE; Ingesting of Psilocybin mushrooms although mind altering can also be deadly. John P. Law, The new Drugs Act 2005 has changed the law so that now both fresh and prepared (e.g. dried or stewed) magic mushrooms are classified as Class A drugs. Possession can get you up to seven years in jail and an unlimited fine. Supplying someone else with magic mushrooms can get you life and an unlimited fine.
