It's better to be without a boat so even though you may not get any where you can still sit and wait on the paddle and wait for help. Maybe you can even go fishing on the paddle.

I can swim for days but wouldn't want to be carrying a paddle, so I'd say without a paddle.

I'd go without a boat, ' cause I can swim. And without a paddle you would be able to use the boat. A paddle you can always use as a floating device when you get tired of swimming.
