Not with your paper recycling. However, our recycling service encourages us to put our garbage into the waxed milk cartons and toss them in with "green" recycling.
Most modern recycling services run the trash on a conveyor belt so people can remove "offending" trash, so they'll be able to remove the cartons before any potential damage.

It depends on where you live and the recycling system they use. Where I live, I can recycle milk cartons, but I can only recycle plastic with a 1 or 2. Where my friend lives, any plastic that has any number can be recycled, and she can't recycle milk cartons. So you have to find out the rules for your own location. If you are new in town, ask a neighbor.

Waxed cartons are not recyclable with paper. I don't know about ruining the whole batch. They are biodegradable, if you have that kind of composting available.

If it has the recycling symbol on it (a triangle with "R" on it, or 3 arrows forming a circle), then yes. A lot of companies make their products' packaging recyclable nowadays.
