I have a hawaiian print sunshade and I was putting the print facing out and my brother said you are supposed to put the reflective (silver) side out to block the sun. What's the point in having a print on your sunshade if you can't show it off? Does it matter which side it's on?

It doesn't actually make much difference, the reflective side only reflects the visible spectrum, the infrared that gets through the glass is what causes the heat, and no matter what you put up there, the heat still wont get out. The sun shade really stops direct sun on the car interior surfaces and prevents that from getting hot. the best place for the sun shade is actually on the outside of the glass stopping the light and therefore heat getting through in the first place !!! Needs to be held down pretty well though !!

when you use the silver sunshade in the hot summer, i advise that take the silver reflective side to protect your vehicle's interior from heat.

The same, when you use it in winter, it should be print faceing out to make the interior warmer.

It seems that your brother would be right by common sense (the reflective side would reflect the sun) HOWEVER, I have only seen sunscreens with the decorative side facing out.

Summer time the silver side faces out to reflect the sunlight away and to cool the vehicle interior. Printed side out during the winter to warm the interior. Simple thermal dynamics.

i have always put the reflective side out to repel the sun, and use the other side for other times when i dont want people looking in, but i guess unless your other windows are tinited, the privacy thing wouldnt matter much.

In my experience it doesn t make much of a difference either way. I have a harleyquinn print one myself where she s basically doing a split so if I m at church or something I typically put reflective side facing out and print side facing in ^_^;

I think you put the reflective side out===to reflect the rays.

Your brother's right. About the print - I guess it just sells better to people who don't know this...
