How do I add her and can it be restricted to certain areas?

You will need to set her up with a Yahoo account and show her how to log on to Mail. An 8 year old should always be gently supervised when on the Internet, anyway.

If you show her Yahooligans as well, that should keep her happy for hours! The people who say 'keep her away' are being short sighted. She will learn to use the Internet sooner or later (and probably does at school already). It is far better that she learns the basics with you than that she goes to the Library with a group of friends (a little later, perhaps) and learns all manner of bad sites without instruction!

You are giving WAY TOO MUCH information in your question.

There are too many perverts and weirdos cruising this and other sites, looking for kids to exploit.

Never advertise to them such details of your private life, as you would be surprised what can be learned about you and your family by a diligent scum bag.

By going over your previous answers and questions they can "profile" you and possibly her by identifying which state, city/town you live in and possibly other net identities you have.

Asking for help is fine, just don't expose your grandaughter to risk.

After reading your lack of profile, I submit that YOU ARE A PREDATOR TRYING TO USE THIS FORUM TO TRAFFIC IN CHILD PORN.

Any grandaughter able to use a computer could get her parents to help her set up an account.

NICE TRY JERK YOU ARE REPORTED

You can't restrict Yahoo mail for children and Yahooligans doesn't offer email. Your best bet is, if you have an internet account like AOL or MSN, then you can create an email address for her and make the restrictions of what she can and can't use on the internet.

Grandma, please don't introduce young people to the Internet. Show them how to write letters and postcards just like you did when you were young. Their reading and writing skill will benefit no end. Buy her a phone card and let her talk on the phone, nothing can beat hearing the voice of the other person. Occasionally buy her a ticket so that she can meet her friend.

Just go to yahoo homepage and set up a new email account -- when it asks to have her birthdate entered, it then lets the parent set up restrictions.

Use the 360 option yahoo has. You can make it private and only the people you want to see her page can see it. My eight year old niece is on it, no problems
