Try going to www.bhg.com
This is a site that has things like "Plan a garden" "Paint a room" crafts, recepies and a whole lot more. I use this site all the time. I recomend that you create an account with them, it's free and you will get a lot more options. Trust me, it's a great site, and even their customer service is very profetional.

Hi there. I am a Landscape Architect in the Dallas, Texas area. I'll try to help you, but there really is so much to know that I do not. In that case, I would say...
Find a local nursery that has a design and installation division. Usually, they will give away the design, if you use thier plants and installation crews. This is a good way to get a professional design for free.
If not that, you could find yourself a Landscape Architect. Usually your smaller, local Landscape Architects are not too expensive, but I would expect to pay a thousand dollars or more for a good design. Maybe you could ask around, find a college program close by with hopeful LA's, or a friend of a friend who could hook you up with some cheap design work.
There are also many maintenance and installation people around who could help you out. These guys are not degreed professionals, but they know the plant material and could help you out.
Things I have done in backyards are small ponds, large ponds, stone decks, some with wood trellis' or without. Maybe a wooden trellis and swing would be nice. Wood decks are popular around here. Some can have canvas covers on top of them instead of a wood trellis. Flagstone pathways through a natural garden setting, crushed gravel paths through a native material garden, boulder and rock gardens in southwest locations with cactus and xeriscaping techniques. How about some vines and espaliers along walls or sides of the house. Plant some shade trees and some smaller ornamental trees. Be sure to screen bad views or noises with evergreen shrubs and barriers; maybe a wooden fence. How about a sitting area with a small table set out in the middle of some gardens?
There is alot to do. Maybe check out a local bookstore for some regional ideas. Good Luck.

Not sure where you live, but if you're in the Midwest, this County Materials company has some great stuff.
You can create terraces with retaining-wall block (if you have a really steeply graded yard), or smaller tree rings and planting-bed borders with garden-wall block.
If you'd like a patio, they have tumbled pavers that look like an old European courtyard or cobblestone street. And you can make patios, driveways or walkways with them too.
Just make sure you get a reputable landscaper if it's a bigger job you can't do yourself. It'll be worth the extra cost.
