Speaking from personal experience... Not every person that is in jail/prison is THAT bad!!! When you love someone unconditionally (which is what marriage is supposed to be based on) you love them even when mistakes have been made! Yes I also love someone that is doing time. It is the most difficult thing I have ever had to endure! Each case is different, and you must think very carefully on if you are able to go through the separation, the expensive phone calls (dying in the inside if he doesn't call cuz you don't know if he is ok) the weekend visits (sometimes behind the glass)..... it is very TOUGH!!! I am confident that my love is a real love and that God will soon bless us and we will be together again real soon!!!!

I think its silly to marry someone in prison as the whole purpose of getting married is to be together. You need to touch feel and make love to each other for your marriage to blossom but then how can you do that when your partner is in jail. Look its just tying yourself down for nothing. You will get tempted and may end up cheating on your jailed partner. So dont do it not unless you are no longer getting any proposal and are advanced in age.

Are you talking about meeting and marrying someone who is already in jail, or going thru with an engagement to someone who has been institutionalized since you agreed to marry them? NO ONE should be so desperate to seek out the affections of someone incarcerated! If you have a relationship with someone, love them, KNOW them well and they are arrested for a crime, then definitely stand by them, help them thru but let them know you'll be waiting for them when they get out. DO NOT marry them until they are release! Then only time will tell if they'll be a repeat offender. People do change, but not very often. God Bless!

I would have to ask myself ?s when considering. I was with a man that spent 1 1/2 yrs. in jail 4 writing a few bad checks. I was with him for 7 years. My questions are 1(What is being punished for? 2) How long is the sentence? 3) If its long term punishment then no. If it is short, or at least 1 year max. then if you love each other then why cant you wait? It's ultimately up to the person on how they want their lives to be. These are my personal choices if it were me.

No way. I know people go to jail for different reason and that people can be reformed, however I would not want to try and start a life with someone with a criminal history. They often times have difficulty finding employment, have sub standard friends, and often times because of the difficulties they face in society coming out of prison they end up back in prison for an even longer stint.

If I was desperate, mentally ill, lonely as heck, suffering from poor self esteem, and totally out of touch with reality I might consider it. But I am none of that, so no, no I would not marry a person in jail.

The people who are put in the jail, so that they never do the same mistake for which they are in that place.Mistakes happens to every one.I believe in to err is human and to forgive is God. If you like that person and that person likes you. He has already given punishment for the wrong things he committed, then why you shouldn't marry him.
No person is really bad, its the inner mind which makes them think bad and act bad.Forgiving someone for his past mistake is good than hating that person forever.

Do you know why he is in jail? Do you love him whole heartedly? Is he your one? You have to make the decision for yourself. I don't know if I would marry someone that was in jail. I guess it all depends if I loved him and I thought he was the "one".
