i take vocal lessons and my teacher says i have to think of what music i would like to learn. i am 11 yrs old and im thinking some sort of pop or pop/rock. but i dont know. what do you think? name some singers if you can. it could be a mix of two and say why.

well personally im into pop or pop/rock just like u said and singers like aly & aj, jesse mccartney, raven symone, the cheetah girls, and singers like them mostly cuz they have realyl great voices and i really like their music

You could always pull a Linda Ronstadt -- she started out as a pop/rock singer, then went on to Broadway, then released a HUGELY popular album of Big Band standards, did some opera along the way, now she has gone back to her roots and is doing Spanish music. Once you make a name for yourself you can try new things (too bad Mariah Carey is stuck in an infinite pop/hip-hop loop -- she's got talent but she could do so much more if she wanted to...)

They both have wonderful voices, and one is pop...the other rock.

screamo like metal bands u may think its just a big noise but u have to be talented to do it or you can learn all kinds of singing rock, pop screamo, classical

try listening to Jojo, Ciara, Beyonce,or some artists who sings rock,pop,hip hop,or more depending on what music that you like.

sure, i dont like to tear people's dreams n hopes down, but hey, thats wat being real is all about. just cause ur white dont mean u should sing pop. look at jojo n christina aguilera. thats how mariah used to sing...anyhoo. if ur trying to be the next britney, or cheyanne or "hannah montana" dont...its played out...n this is coming from a black person.....peace out

if you're only 11 why does it really matter? Just pick something you'd like to sing-- that's all there is to it.

why not start slow....like with music that could develop your vocal cords....Beyonce started with Opera....and look at her now..Jessica Simpson used to sing Gospel...
