When your results come back as an abnormal pap, because of Abnormal Cells, do they always have you get a Colposcopy done? (No, NOT Colonoscopy) My appt is tomorrow and im really nervous about it. I heard tho that they are very common and usually theres nothing even wrong though. Thanks for your help :)

My last pap had abnormal cells. Don't be worried about it, I was but it is so simple...and it doesn't hurt. You should get it done to make sure nothing is wrong. My pap came up 3x as abnormal and after the colposcopy the doc found I was text book perfect. First the spray this vinegar type solution on. Then they just use a little camera and make sure they don't see anything abnormal coloring because the vinegar will show white if there are abnormal cells. If there are abnormal cells they will take them off and look at them (and this will feel like a pinch). Don't worry, but go to your appointment.

I've had cervical cancer so do the right thing and go for the Colposcopy. It is necessary to have it done. And early detection will save you from surgery like what I've been through. It kinda hurts but hot bad and not for long. Take a pad with you. You will bleed like a period at first. And you'll have some gross Grey stuff in you that helps with the bleeding but that's gone within 3 days. Good Luck. You can email me or IM me if you want to talk more about it.

more than likely they are goign to do a colonoscopy then have you come back to do a re-pap to see if the abnormal cells are gone. It isn't to bad. It feels like you are having bad menstral cramps. you might be a little achy afterwards. Tylenol should help. you may have some discharge also for a few days.

This depends on the class of the Pap. Class I benign. Class II atypical cells probably due to infection. Class III highly suspicious of malignancy. Class IV mailignant cells.
Two can be ignored. Three repeated in a few months. Four and Five require cervical biopsies.

This is to make sure that there are no pre cancerous cells. It doesn't hurt and takes seconds. They don't take an inch of flesh it is a very small piece. Don't be nervous it's just like a PAP.

No, you usually have to get another pap in a couple of months. It doesn't mean you will have a "hysterectomy". It depends on the level of your pap. If it was a 4 or 5 you might have to have one but maybe not.
