That just because we are young we do not make bad decisions. I wish they would understand that we do not always want to be told what to do. Some time we rather make decision all yourself. It sorta hurt when they say you are dumb and don't know anything. They do not realize that time has change and teenage don't act the same has they did before. So time it hurts to know that they can't even help you through any problem that you have.

Same as Tink: We're not all idiots bent on having sex with multiple partners. Though some idiots are... And I wish they'd understand that sleeping in is a GOOD thing, and that I need my 8 hours of sleep so I'm not a zombie slouched over a teacup in the morning. And the point of headphones while doing homework is that they simply block out distractions by clearing your head. And social levels change every second, but general labels (ie jock, nerd, stoner, etc) are universal. And some of us actually reject major fashion and mall-shopping as a major past-time. Well, I know I'd go to CompUSA before the mall any day...

I wish my parents would understand that I make really good discisions and I wish that they would trust me,seeing that I have done absolutly nothing wrong.Unfortunatly, they just think that I might make the same discisions that they made when they were my age and they don't understand that I won't(even though I remind them all the time and I have done nothing to make them think like this). They won't even let me see my friends :( ,and I don't know why. So,I would love for them to understand that I am a very trustworthy and very smart with my life and future goals, and I'm working on getting that through to them but I think they are just scared.I guess they just want to protect as long as they can, seeing as I'll be moving out in 1.5 years.I wish they just understood me better and know that I'm really not like all of the other teens out there(I'm still a virgin,no drugs,no alcohol, etc).

ok I'm female age 20 and I just got married. There are several things I wish my parents would have known. (especially while I was at home during college)
1st. teens have busy lives. They go to school all day just like parents work all day...then many of them their day doesn't stop there! they have a part-time job in the evening and must come home late to finish their school work. Parents expect their rooms to be perfect but it's so hard. I remember being so stressed out all of the time because I would go straight to work from school with out dinner or having to swing by mcdonalds and eat on the way. when I actually had a day off I did not make use of my time because I had to destress.
also many teens get involved in sports/clubs at school. these are important because it helps them get scholarships and into college.
Antoher problem is that they treated me and my sis (2 years younger) unfairly. I had to quit playing a sport when I turned 16 to start working. I had to buy about 95% of my stuff (clothes, going to the movies, etc) and I bought my own car when I was a senior. My sis didn't start working till her senior year so she got to continue athletics. Mommy and daddy paid for everything of hers. She's starting college now and still hasn't bought her own car.
Another thing...at a very young age my parents taught me about not using drugs...etc. So it bothered me when they continually said it as I was older. I was pretty much a straight A student, and as I said, I worked, never got into trouble...but they still got on my case. Parents..if your student is doing a good job..give them praise..don't keep drilling their brains for stuff they aren't doing

Just to play devil's advocate for one minute. - I do get that it may seem adults don't understand and it's true some have forgotten, but please keep in mind that all adults WERE teens at one point. And if they seem unreasonable it might just be because they DO know what they're talking about. =) That being said.. I am interested to see what you have to say.. I'll check back to see what I can learn. =)
