If you want something which is pop/rock go for QUEEN. QUEEN rule. Freddie Mercury was the lead singer, with Brian May on lead Guitar. Some of their best know songs are: We are the Champions(voted the worlds favorite song), We will rock you, Bohemian Rhapsody and Bicycle race. Freddie also sang a wide variety of other songs, famously including the opera song, Barcelona, at the Barcelona Olympics.

Classic Jazz is always best because of the foundational attributes. The flow, improvisational freedom and the style is incomparable accept maybe rap, but it's not classy and half the things they say in rap, to be cool, is profane or you simply can't understand what they are saying. Ella Fitzgerald is a good song stylist and vocalist and she can 'scat'! When she 'scats' she sounds like different instruments. Another great vocalist is Barbara Streisand and boy, can she breath!!! You said 2, but Denise Graves is an Opera singer that has great voice control and vocal strength. Whatever you do, do it with class. I commend you for your question and your goals.

Pop and pop/rock is all very easy to come by these days.

I know you're young, but I would recommend trying to listen to some other genres as well and get some inspiration there.

There is a lot of great music out there - both music from older generations (R&B, soul, jazz, doo wop...) and from other countries.

I like rock n' roll, southern rock, actually a little everything. really what you sing should depend greatly on your voice type. Alto, soprano? Who when you sing with on the radio, tapes... can you get in sync with would be the style that I would choose. :-)
