We didn't have a lot of false labor with our 4th but he was the only one that took so long to get started that we decided to induce.

Babies come when they're ready for the most part. Relaxing helps get things started. Read this on the gentlebirth.org website as a suggestion for getting the baby to move down, maybe an idea for you?
Helping Baby Descend
One of my friends had several babies that stayed high forever! She felt that she started labor several times, but it never went anywhere because the babies' heads weren't anywhere near being "well-applied" to the cervix. Anyway, by the time she had her 5th baby, she knew she had to do something. So, borrowing a custom from another culture, she started binding her tummy. She took a large towel and a couple of safety pins and wrapped it as tight as she could live with just under her ribs, with slight pressure on the baby's bottom. Every time she felt the towel was looser (from the baby having shifted lower), she lowered the towel and did it again. She was able to encourage her baby to descend and engage and ended up with a quick labor all at once instead of dragging it out over several weeks. It is anecdotal "evidence" but try it! Maybe it will work! If there is some real reason the baby can't descend (unusually short cord, etc), then you wouldn't feel any loosening of the towel (or pillowcase or whatever). You aren't forcing the baby, only encouraging him or her. Also, I am a great believer in talking to your baby and telling him or her what you need/would like your baby to do. Good luck! - from http://www.gentlebirth.org/Midwife/position.html#Alternative
A note from the Auld Mom, semen causes the cervix to soften and climaxing causes the uterus to contract.

i was induced with my first daughter at 39 weeks and the labor took 14 hours. with my second daughter i wasn't iduced. she didn't come until 6 days after her due date and she was born in 7 hours....i hope that with this pregnancies the baby will come on time and that he/she will take less than 7 hours. i am hoping that the baby will come in 5 hours only because i don't want the baby to come too quick and have my body go into shock which did happen to a friend of mine. well i hope that you wil have your baby soon like tonight lol so you don't have to feel like you are going to "drop dead" lol and i hope that i made this interesting enough for you to pass the time. well good luck and congrats!

When I was two weeks late the doctors told me to drink 4 glasses of raspberry leaf tea and to have as much sex as I possibly could. Something about the sperm acting as a natural chemical that does help with the start of labor.
I'm sure that once your labor starts you'll know. They say each one is different, but for some women it's all the same.
I wish you all the best!

well yes every labour is differant. and yes to a point it is possible to be in labour and not know it. i went in for my last appointment and was told i was 5cm dialated and needed to go to the hospital immediatly. as for getting the baby down i would suggest walking around for a while and eating spicy food.

Well, it would seem to me the second time would be better since you know what is coming. The first time you didn't.
