AMD Athlon Turion is comparable to Xeon 64 bit processor chip by Intel
most computer's are 32 bit processor.
The Sempron is the low end of AMD
some driver for devices are not compatible on AMD
For Intel there is no problem
Macintosh just came out with a Quad Xeon 64bit processor
on their top G5

The AMD sempron is roughly equivalent to the Intel celeron. As far as the Athlon and Intel processors it is difficult to answer as there is a broad range of speeds and types.
For the past several years AMD has held the performance crown and ran much cooler than Intel and there was no question AMD was the way to go. In the last few months Intel has released a new line of processors, the Core 2 Duo, which is much faster than AMD's line. The Core 2 Duo also runs very cool. AMD is starting to make two lines of more efficient processors, one takes 35 watts the other 65 watts compared to the standard lines 89 watts, to compete against the cool running Core 2 Duo. There are two ways the AMD processors are better than Intel, at present the Core 2 Duo's are in short supply while the Athlon 64 X2's are readily available with the exception of the new 35 watt and 65 watt chips; also the AMD's are much cheaper.
Either the Core 2 Duo or Athlon 64 X2 processor should do a good job for you. If the Core 2 Duo was readily available I would probably go for it.
Edited. If you decide to go for the AMD 64 X2 line you can tell what chip it is from it's markings: the standard chip will start with ADA, the 65 watt chip ADO, the 35 watt chip ADD; after the three letters there will be four numbers indicating the speed rating.

The AMD is such because the E6600, as they have about the same overall performance. inspite of the undeniable fact that the E6750 and E6850 are truthfully speedier. For they funds inspite of the undeniable fact that, the 6000+ is an rather good processor.

It is, but I prefer Intel chips. They are much quieter and heat a lot less. Right now, AMD has the momentum in the market. But Intel is king!
