Yes, during the first trimester. I'm normally a stomach sleeper. When I got bigger later on in the pregnancy, I would lay on my side and put a pillow under my belly to keep me from rolling onto it. Plus it felt more comfortable.
You will not damage the fetus because that's what the sac is for... to protect it.

Sure, it's safe if you're comfortable that way. Later on though, you won't be able to sleep that way because it's like sleeping on top of a basketball!
The optimal sleeping position for pregnancy is on your left side, but right side and stomach are fine for now. When you start to show, however, you're going to want to try not to sleep on your back because it puts pressure on the vena cava which is this really big vein in your body that carries blood to the placenta. So sleeping on your back could reduce oxygen flow to the baby.
But for now, enjoy sleeping on your stomach. It'll be the last time you can do that for months!

Yes... it is perfectly fine... I slept on my stomach and I still do sometimes... and I am going into my third trimester this week. No problems here at all. I can't sleep completely on my stomach because thats like sleeping on a ball... but I sleep at like a 45 degree angle. Your ''suppose'' to sleep on your left side after 16 weeks, before then, your baby has so much room in your uterus, it will not be crushed at all. So whatever makes you comfortable.. do it. You will instinctively roll over if your baby is getting harmed. Natural mother instincts. How many times do you hear about women having miscarriages because they slept wrong??? Umm... never. Its just the idea that on the left side, the babys umbilical cord won't get crushed... but, you should be fine.

You can sleep on your stomach as long as you are comfortable. I didn't because by 6 weeks I couldn't stand it anymore. I still sleep sort of on my stomach with the support of a body pillow so I don't put pressure on my stomach. You don't have to worry about sleeping on your side until you are about 24 weeks. It's best to try and get in the habit though earlier. And don't worry if you sleep on or wake up on your back, it's ok (I am on bedrest now for 12 weeks and usually on my back on the couch and sides in bed at night)

yes, it's safe - no harm done......Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

I would think that it would be OK. That was the only way I could sleep when I was pregnant with all 4 of my kids.

I've always heard that you should sleep on your left side when you are pregnant (better blood flow to the uterus and baby). So, that's what I did.
