I find it immensely ironic that someone has gone through and given a 'thumbs-up' to every pro-Christian answer to this question and the 'thumbs-down' to every other answer. This would be a case in point. Clearly some Christian is trying to ban every non-Christian idea from Yahoo!Answers.

I realize this is not the act of EVERY Christian, but if I were a Christian, I'd be the first to drop on thought-police such as these that are giving the rest of Christianity a bad name.

So, Christians: It's time to put up or shut up. Are you in support of fascistic practices that suppress every idea that is not your own? Have you learned nothing from the atrocities committed in your name in the last few millenia? Or do you actually support FREE choice and WILLING conversion instead of conversion by coercion?

alright doctor why, here's a christian who would like to offer some insight. like most circumstances where people differ extremely on certain topics, you will always have a small group on each side that feels like they need to make everyone agree with their point of view. Not all of them are as obvious as others, but they are still there. Some people, like me for instance, realize that there is no way you can make every single person think the same way. Sure if one side has questions about the other side, in this case atheists who have questions about Christianity and vise versa, we should be able to discuss the topics with respect for both sides. However human nature won't allow that scenario to exist. And to the asker, I know you've already chosen a best answer, but i just want you to understand that not all Christians are pushy. I have respect for the way people think, my best friend is an atheist and I never bring up religion with her unless she asks. Thats just the polite thing to do in my opinion.

Some Christians are pushy because, they believe that they have to pass the word, and that the only way to heaven is through Christ.

These are religious rules designed to make everyone a Christian, and have little to do with the real message of Jesus. Love is the answer - his words are that of a great Prophet, if you get that - then you got what you should.

AREN'T THE OTHERS?????

Religion is something very personal and privet and every body should be able to practice it the way he/she wants.
but I don't think particularly Christians are pushy with there religion, all religions are, or at least the Ono's how are preaching it are, and every body things something that she/he knows is the best , and the others should think and act the same , as long as it is just a suggestion, should be tolerated , but as soon as it becomes an obligation it is getting dangerous.

I believe pushy is each person's own interpretation. I know I have shared Christ's love with people who believe as you, and at the moment I shared I did not understand. It's not that I don't care about others thoughts, it all came down to an impassioned talk. I hope you can understand that it is not our goal to alienate others, it truly is our prayer that all we come in contact with will choose life eternal. And for that I cannot say I am sorry, only that there was a time in my life I understood completely what they were thinking and my prayer is that they too would come to the same understanding I did. Prayers....really =)

Some Christian's are pushy but they make up a small percentage of the total Christian population. Most Christians I know barely speak of their religion outside of their church. I'll still take the pushy Christians over the Muslims. At least Christians don't kill you for not believing. About 2,000 years ago it was the Christians being killed for their beliefs by the Jews so it sounds like, historically, Christians are pretty mild.

I think all religions are very pushy. Not just Christians, any functional religions on the face of the Earth.

Because they think that if everyone was christian the world will be a better place and everyone will go to heaven. Unfortunetly things aren't so simple. There are just as many bad people in Church than what there are on the street. A religion or belief in a institution or book will not make the world better, you have to search for that within yourself and might still find that the world doesn't really change, but the way you look at it does.

I am a Christian and I am not "pushy" and I don't appreciate you lumping all of us into one bunch either.

What exactly is your definition of pushy anyway? Probably that you don't like when they give their opinion. Last time I looked, this is a free country and we can express ourselves just like anyone else. Would you be as offended if it were a gay, minority or other that expresses themselves? Or is it just Christian?

I find those most offended by Christians (who don't bang people over the head with a Bible mind you) are those who are convicted by who we are, meaning, if you are offended, best to search yourself to see what it is in you that needs fixing.

BTW it is "their" not "there" in your question.

Because their religion tells them to be pushy. If someone says they are a Christian but they are not pushy they are just being hypocrites.
