Do not lower your standards because you are older and more experienced.
Look for jobs the same as everyone else, you might have to work a little harder at it. Maybe do more of the networking, rather then applying for all the same jobs that everyone else is applying for. May appointments for informational interviews ask the employers questions. Get in and meet people and network your way into a company. Welcome to the new way of finding employment!

go to the job and employer of choice. offer to work at a reduced rate, without bennies for awhile. show him the benefits of hiring an older employee eg better work habits, punctuality, emotionally stable and settled, more experienced, a less complicated personal life resulting in fewer missed days. etc, etc
