i have a computer (P3 933mhz.) and it says the product key is not valid when i try to finalize the installation. i tried using my xp pro cd. but there are "incorrect functions" before i can even get to the product key screen. anything im doing wrong? and are some computers not allowed to have certain o/s on them/ it says the comp is designed for millenium edition. but i am using a new hdd. thanks

Is it a legitimate windows xp product? If so, the product key would be on the back of the cd holder. If you got your product through some of the dealers, it may be a pirated cd and you'll be unable to install. If it is legitimate, go directly to microsoft and pose this question to them.
