She died relatively young, for a sheep, and also had bad arthritis. It is not know whether her arthritis was due to her being a clone or due to the fact that she lived mostly indoors and not as a 'normal' sheep. After death she was stuffed and is on display in the Royal Scottish museum in Edinburgh.

On February 14, 2003 it was announced that Dolly had died from a progressive lung disease. A necropsy confirmed she had Ovine Pulmonary Adenocarcinoma (Jaagsiekte), a fairly common disease of sheep caused by a retrovirus. Roslin scientists stated that they did not think there was a connection with Dolly being a clone, and that other sheep on the farm had similar ailments. Such lung diseases are especially a danger for sheep kept indoors, as Dolly had to be for security reasons.

Well as you have gathered Dolly is dead!! but I think the problem with cloning at the moment is that you are cloning a cell that has already aged. So if Dolly was taken from an older sheep she would physically be the same age, and so on and so fourth...But im no scientist so dont quote me! ;>)

Dolly had to be put to sleep. She aged very fast and was terribly sick towards the end.

She was born 05 July 1996, died in 2003 and as far as I know didn't have any lambs - oops just saw from "Mike" that she did actually have lambs. Thanks Mike, I just learned something new today.
