This is about the UK outward & Inward Post Codes.

The letters in the inward code, however, are restricted to the set ABDEFGHJLNPQRSTUWXYZ (excluding CIKMOV), which generally do not resemble digits or each other when hand-written.

The UK postcode is broken down into 2 parts, the outward (first) and inward (second) parts. I believe that the postoffice define that to be valid, the inward part cannot contain any of the the characters CIKMOV
