There are tiny holes in the clay made to make pottery..the air inside them heats up and expands and then cracks the pottery!!

Some water leeks into the crockery. The microwaves heats up the water so that it boils. The steam can not fit in the small space that the water had leaked into, so the crockery will crack.

The microwaves excite the tiny particles making up the crockery..these particles rub together and create heat through friction.

As far as I know, the microwave causes vibration in the molecules to heat things, this then causes the weak points of the crockery to vibrate and quickly heat up to breaking point. That is as far as I know.
