The W124 series is the most over-engineered car ever produced by man. It developement...get this...MBZ pumped over 5 billion dollars into research and developement(1984 dollars) on just this model. Virtually every facet of the car is engineered to the nth degree.

You got a keeper, since they do NOT make them like this anymore. MBZ could not afford to make this car since their are so many clones they have to compete with.

1800-222-0100 is the roadside assistance # that is valid for ANY MBZ of ANY year!

I work for Mercedes Benz(Daimlerchrysler) and can very safely vouch the the 124 has been the best car ever produced by Mercedes Benz and has the maximum sales in this model then any other. Personally, without bias - I love the car. Its tough, sturdy and moves like a stealth bomber. She is beautiful.

Yes very good car they dont make them like tanks anymore...good car W124 is a nice looking car also the one your refering to i belive has a 2.6 liter inline six with a 4 speed transmittion the 260E is a european model so im not exactally sure on it.

Yes the only weak spot on that motor is valve train. If you get one have it checked for leaks by a well qualified MB shop. I know many MB techs who drive that car.

Yes it is. My sis-in-law got one. The odometer stoped working about 4 years ago at 170 000 miles and its still a daily driver.
