What are the most important and effective things to do the day of weigh-in to stay where you need to be? For example: If you need to weigh in @ 105 and you are at 106.6 what do you do? Especially involving water weight... (Also.... what to do if you still get your period?) I gain weight then..... Any tips would be appreciated!

Direux is a water pill taken when your on your menstral cycle. You will pea a lot. I won't use it often or your body becomes immuned to it and it won't work. Make sure to drink lots of water.

I knew a girl who was on a rowing team in college. All the girls pulled one ore that went out either the right side or the left side of the boat. The girls were encouraged to stick with one side, and not switch up. It was better for the team if each girl strengthened one particular side of their body. Because one arm would naturally move further than the other when pulling the one ore, the girls body grew stronger on one side. This was good for the team. It made them go fast, and probably win some races. Today the girls' right shoulder is about 3/4 of an inch lower than the left when she stands up straight.

You are in a different situation. But please remember (like was made clear in the two previous answers), your health is very important. Your health may not be the first thing on your coaches mind.

ON ANOTHER NOTE: I am currently a triathlete. I have a specific eating regiment each race day, and the night before. I am looking for maximum energy and performance. Weight does not enter into this equation at all. Shouldn't you also have a regiment that is tailored to getting you into peak performance shape. If you are soully focused on weight, it seems you could show up to the performance with sub-par energy.

Slowly step away from the scale and tell your coach that the weigh-ins are over. You will consult with a nutritionist regularly but an athletic coach doesn't get to make health decisions for you. The tactics you are looking for are on the path to serious eating disorders.

If you want to see where this is heading, do a 'what ever happened" search on the 1988 and 1992 US women's gymnastics teams.

the only sports that should worry about weigh-ins are wrestling and boxing, because you have to compete in certain weight classes.

I agree with soulrider - talk to a nutritionist. as long as you can perform your routines and stay healthy, your weight shouldnt matter. if your coach is making eating decisions for you, its time to find a new coach.
