I just read poll results on espn.com as to who would represent the NL in the world series. Now, I understand supporting your team, but why is it so difficult for people to be realistic? The poll results showed that the state of OH picked the Reds to represent the NL this year. Now come on people. I can easily name three teams that would beat them in the playoffs (Mets, Cardinals and Dodgers). I just do not understand the stupidty of todays sports fans.
Now, I also understand that Yankee and Red Sox fans hate the others team. However, you're only insulting yourself by saying the other team sucks. Personally, I think Yankee fans are the worst. They spent more than half the season in 2nd place and now that they are in first (by only 2 games), they say the Red Sox suck. Now, if one team was last in the division then I would understand it. But to say your rival sucks when you each have won 5 out of 10 games against each other this year and you're both battling for 1st place, is insane.

I think there is a difference between baseball fans and team fans like Yankee fans. Baseball fans, like myself, love the game and see their team rather realistically with all their faults and attributes. Team fans generally just want to be part of a bandwagon, they have to be part of something....anything....
Because team fans do not pay attention to stats, player rotation, depth, and other division standings they come off as really dumb when talking about baseball.

MY take on it is that given any group of people in any given setting and you'll have those who are "dumb" and others more or less "normal." I worked many years at a bank and the stupidity of some of the people there (both customers and staff) was sometimes unbelievable. I work at an educational institute and again, some people I deal with are utter idiots and others not. I also browse sports fan sites and some of the things that people write is utter garbage.
Of course some Cinn. fans will pick the Reds to win, and of course Yankee fans will say the the Red Sox suck and vice versa.
At least in baseball, the ultimate last laugh will be reserved for the winner of the World Series, and even then, you'll get the dumb comments like "they still suck, they were lucky, they cheated" etc.

You are a sports fan. Some sports fan are extreme. I do not believe in saying a team stinks if it is in second place out of 30. It doesn't make sense. If the team is in 20th place, go ahead. Or if the team's players are really cocky, go ahead. I personally like the New York Yankees better than the Boston Red Sox, primarily because "Red Sox" seems like a lame name to me. I'm not much into baseball. Both teams are great, fighting for 1st place.
When you say "Reds", what do you mean? Oklahoma Redskins? Boston Red Sox?
Sorry, I don't know much about baseball, 1 of my least favorite sports.

True, it's stupid to say a team in either 1st or 2nd place sucks. But isn't it also unfair to say a team sucks because they pay extreme amounts of $ for talent? That they buy World Series? The Yanks do have a higher payroll than every other team in the league, mainly because they have more $ to spend. The whole purpose of trading players is to put together a team that will win a championship, same as in every sport. The main team who complains about this is Boston and their fans... though they have the 2nd highest payroll in baseball. Of course I hate the Red Sox because I'm a die-hard Yanks fan, but I don't think they suck, they have a very talented team that I hope we can beat.
I will however mention, that the Yanks are in 1st place without two of their best players almost the whole season, and without another of their best for 35 games. Take 2-3 of Boston's best players, particularly best hitters, and I doubt they'd be anywhere near 1st place.

Wrong sport. Boston Red Sox Fans. They chant Yankees Suck all the time, even when they are playing other teams, which proofs they think about the Yankees more than the Yankees think about them . PS.The fans are dumb because the people who designed a scoreboard decided to put visitor/home labels?

Everyone has opinions, and those in that poll are biased. Who cares? It's just a poll. I bet if they made a poll saying like, "Who will win the Tour De France" between Jose Canseco and Floyd Landis..they would probably choose Jose Canseco since Floyd Landis is the new "bad guy."

Why are Americans/human being so dumb? It took people this long to realize Bush was lying about Iraq and that it was a terrible idea to invade that country.
