What is a dentist doing giving you advice on cleaning your ears?
My Dr. said to use a washcloth because Q-tips push the wax deeper into your ear.

My doctor told me that the reason they tell you not to use a Q-tip is because some of the cotton could become lodged in your ear canal.
He recommends dipping the Q-tip in hydrogen peroxide first and then cleaning your ears. That should keep the cotton intact and act as a disinfectant too.
