Yes, a boy that was in my class at school committed suicide. My cousin tried to when she was a teenager and my parents let her live with us for awhile because she wasn't getting along with her parents. Same cousin her brother did commit suicide a few years ago. My Aunt has tried a few times too. My niece had a sort of long distance boyfriend commit suicide a few months ago. My husband's friend in college had a brother commit suicide right before we attended a graduation party. My brother held a gun to his head once then seen me and don't know if I wouldn't of been there if he would of or not. He walked out and hugged me so hard I could barely breath. My mom thought it was a beer bottle but when he came out with the gun in his hand I was scared and he said I just want a hug. I have even had thoughts of it myself felt like running my car into a tree mostly when I was a teenager don't know why but wouldn't really. It is too common I know too many people.

My son's friend from school passed away this March by hanging himself. I was told that he was very depressed over his parents divorce. My son and his friend had been friends from grade school till their sophomore year. My son became very depressed and a few weeks later he was put in a hospital that deals with these situations. It is a horrible experience for parents to go through.
Yes, I have read that there is a higher rate of suicides than homicides. Most who commit or attempt suicide are young people who have too much stress in their lives. Peer pressure, parents divorce, and many things that young people can't handle.

Did you know that those who commit suicide actually want to live but somehow believe their material or emotional life has come to an end? - Their trapped in a quandry that they see no way out of. The answer is "Time" as in time, situations pass, hearts mend and prosperity comes back around. Those who commit suicide, refuse to wait it out, which can be difficult ... they think death will bring them some sort of more instant gratification ... but all it brings is death for them and sadness to those they leave behind.

Yes, Just yesterday I bumped into a good friend I used to work with. He told me his daughter had just committed suicide. He found her...She used his shotgun. Very smart girl, in nursing school....but all ways complaining about pressures. She had just come home from a therapy session the day she did it. Suicide is so very selfish but the ones doing it just cant see any other way out

Sad.

A family friend killed herself by shooting herself in the head when I was a kid, when I was a teenager a friend also killed herself by shooting herself in the head. My sister took a bottle of pills to try to kill herself, she almost succeeded, her heart stopped beating once before the ambulance came and my uncle got it started again, and it stopped again in the ambulance. When she swallowed the pills she was mad and had gone into the bathroom, none of us knew she had taken pills while she was in there and then she calmed down and sat on the couch for awhile. Then a little while later she stood up and almost fell over, I'll never forget the look of terror on her face when she realized what she had done to herself and how serious it was.

I do, i know several people acctually, several of them being ex's of mine....theyve all only attempted it, none of them have thankfully managed to do it, luckily i or someone else has managed to get to them in time.

(Speaking from the teen male perspective)
Alot of the problems in regards to male suicide, boils down to untreated depression, men are raised not to show and express their feelings and so they become a mass of pent up emotion, with no outlet, and so if something becomes too much for them, this is quite often where they wind up. lost and lonely, somewhere wondering why they are here at all.......this the point of which they should have been diagnosed and treated a long time ago........

the easy signs to watch out for, to know if someone close to you has depression......
experience some degree of difficulty in attaining and sustaining erections
lethargy
increased irritability
mood swings
Feel suspicious and guarded
Creates conflicts
Overtly or covertly hostile
Feels the world set them up to fail
Restless and agitated
Terrified to talk about weaknesses and doubts
Uses alcohol, TV, sports, and sex to self medicate
Believe their problems could be solved only if their (spouse, co-worker, parent, friend) would treat them better
Constantly wonder, "Am I being loved enough?"

for suicide.......early warning signs

Difficulties in job/school
Talking about suicide, death
Depression
Neglect of appearance
Increased substance use
Dropping out of activities
Changes in sleeping habits
Isolating oneself from others
Feeling that life is meaningless
Loss of interest in activities
Hopelessness
Restlessness and agitation
Helplessness

late warning signs...........if you find that you are seeing more of these get help IMMEDIATELY

Feelings of failure
Sudden improvement in mood
Overreaction to criticism
Preoccupation with one's failures
Overly self-critical

Yes, my brother in law tried, he slashed his arms to pieces with a steak knife, he's still alive but has massive scars from it, a constant reminder of his screw up. he has a son now and wouldnt trade that for anything, they should think about what could happen in the future before they do that stuff, and who it effects,
and people should show more love instead of hate !

One of my best guy friends attempted it w/ a bottle of aspirin. Thank god his mom (a nurse) caught on in time & had him rushed to the hospital. He spent quite a while in the 'mental ward' (they had a nicer name for it but can't remember) & it was so depressing to go visit him. There was soooo much that wasn't allowed in there including a limit on number of visitors at a time AND he had to have a list of people who were allowed to see him...if you weren't on the list then you were out of luck. Some of the people in there really were "not all there" & it was scary.
