Why help someone who doesn't want to help themselves. Sounds like he knew what the consequences of his actions would be and still disregarded them.
I don't mean to sound cruel here, but anything that happens to him is of his own doing. Hopefully at some point he'll figure that out.
It's comendable of you to want to help, however, if he doesn't want to help himself, there's little you can do to save him.

Try niacin or a flush drink. Niacin and lots of water worked for someone I knew in like 2 days. The flush drink works as well, but has a time frame.

Your friends' problems are self-inflicted. It's sad, but there is very little one can do to help if they choose to follow that path.
