I will be deploying to Iraq in October and I'm looking for a recommendation for a high-SPF moisturizer. My skin isn't sensitive and more on the dry side. I'm 42 and am trying to prevent any further damage to my skin. Any ideas?

good planning.

here is what i would recommend.

go to a dept. store and get a good moisturizer. (it may or may not have an spf) make sure it is formulated for your type of skin.

I suggest clinique (i worked there for 7 years) they will be able to evaluate your skin needs.

You are absolutely right to get a sunscreen. the problem is that the spf in moisturizers is very low or they lose their strength rather quickly. so if you apply at 5 am it will be almost non effective by 9 am. I doubt you will have time to reapply.

Look for city block (i use it everyday and live in illinois) it comes in a strength of 40 spf. the difference with this product is that it is a physical sunblock and should not need to be reapplied, unless you sweat and wipe your face frequently during the day. another good thing about this product is that it will also protect your sking from wind burn (possibly even sand storms?? but I'd ask at the counter)
don't forget about the rest of your skin. especially your hands and neck.

good luck to you.

Hi, My prayers are with you as you head off to Iraq. If you truly want a product that will protect you in their weather than I recommend a product I have started using from Arbonne. Their sunscreen totally protects you from the UVA and UVB rays. I have extreme sun sensitivity from medication I take and their SPF 30 totally protects me. You can find it in their online catalog at http://www.wonderful.myarbonne.com They also have a moisturizer to use in the evening after your day out in the sun. These products do exactly what they say they are going to do. God bless you for your service to our country and to the people of Iraq. Please be safe. Terri T.

I use Lancome's Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30 Lotion. It works great for me. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it works great. Since your skin is on the dry side, I'd suggest going with the cream version. But in my experience, it doesn't leave your skin feeling oily at all.

I'm very picky, but you know whose skin care line is great, Avon's. Search their site online and find a representative close to you and she will be able to point you in the right direction.
