My mum has used Yahoo as her home page and main E-mail address everyday for 5years. Yesterday when she came to sign in it wouldn't let her, it says invalid. She has created a new account and tried to contact Yahoo a number of times through the phone and online with no success. She has lost hundereds of contacts. Any ideas anyone please?

Of course she has asked for password reminder-although she didn't need one- she has used same one EVERYDAY for 5 years, so it's not cos of an inactive account either. (Thanks for saying though......)

is she sure it's gone? try to read through the help section pertaining to this problem.

also try to retrieve password the old fashioned way. go through "lost password" page if she can't do it through remembering the question and birthday, place, zipcode.. use the 'get new password' form.

have it sent to the functional email address and see if that doesn't help get it back.

yahoo also have glitches all over the place too from time to time.

she did call yahoo? so they couldn't help? why am i not surprised!

i hope she has her contacts names and addresses stored elsewhere or written someplace... there's a hard but successful way to get ahold of each individual and alert them to the changes that are taking place.

sorry to hear this, happens way too often.

Has she accidentally contravened Yahoo's Terms Of Service? That can lead to an account closure. Yahoo doesn't really give a damn about accounts that they give-out free, and make no money from. The mention of the value of backups of contacts and data should be mentioned here. No data is entirely safe, the more backups, the less likely you are to lose it.
