a tendency to observe everything a person does?

for example.....in class I accidentally drop something and it creates a distraction....everyone stares at me until I pick it up,
to me it is no big deal that I drop something...but it is like everything that is going on from the teacher yelling at a student gets everyone's attention

People tend to notice things out of the ordinary. I'm assuming most of the students are probably bored, or at the very least sitting in a classroom isn't where they'd choose to be, so the distraction is welcomed.

1) To check what happened;
2) What was the cause of the distraction;
3) To see what will be the reaction of the person being yelled at.

It's automatic and it's not really very easy to control. In other words, it's human nature. Even animals, too, do that. Try dropping something while your dog is sleeping. Your dog will definitely wake up and observe what has happened and what caused that noise that interrupted its sleep.
