I've been running competatively for ten years, and my absolute fav for the past 5 are "Nature Valley" gronola bars. They come in a bunch of flavors (peanut butter is the best for energy) and they actually fill you up without overdoing it before a competition. I'm absolutely addicted. You just pick them up at the grocery store too, so they're not overpriced at all. Seriously, don't waste your money on protein bars all season. Sure, the protein helps your muscles recover if you're taking it in huge quantities, but to be honest, the bars will do absolutely nothing for you except maybe give you cramps and make you gain a little weight. If you're really worried about healing, drink shakes with creatine, but other than that, stick to granolas and fruits.

There are some very good protein bars that have 19 grams of protein but taste like candy bars. A lot of protein usually helps you heal after working out.

Rice Cakes! They are so good and they are good for you, When I run track in the spring that's all I ever eat. It doesn't mess with your stomach and you can run right after you eat. you can also eat apples, apples are a natural fat burner just don't eat to many.

Bananas. They full of protein and prevent cramp. Look at tennis players, they always eat a banana during their break, me too.
