I am 36 weeks pregnant this week and my gums are bleeding. I know this can just be a side effect of the pregnancy but I'm concerned about it. I was at the Dr.'s yesturday but this didn't start until this morning. This is my fourth pregnancy and nothing like this has ever happened before. Has anyone had this happen and what is it caused from?

That happened with me during my second pregnancy. The blood vessels dialate in your gums, and they become more vunerable. It's nothing to be concerned about. You have a LOT more blood pumping through your body right now this late in the pregnancy. It WILL go away after you have the baby. It's just one of those weird things that happens when you're pregnant and don't remember after the baby gets here. It too, will be forgotten during the transition.
Good luck with the little angel. :)

I am 35 weeks pregnant and have had bleeding gums off and on the entire pregnancy. The only thing you need to watch for is swelling or redness of your gums then you will need to go to the detist. Otherwise, don't worry about it, it is just another gift from the little one growing inside you.

Very common. I'm 36 weeks this week also and I've been having the same thing.

It's all hormones, sister!

Good luck and may these babies be born sooner rather than later! :)

Yes, it happened to me with both of my pregnancies. I think it's just because your body has extra blood flow because of baby, therefore making it easier to bleed. Mine bled every time I brushed or flossed. It's no big deal. It'll pass.

I'm not sure what causes it, but it's quite normal. Try not to stress...it will pass.
