There's a job waiting for you as a funeral director...

Many people have this problem: They think that if somebody is crying that
they should be able to "fix" it. This is particularly bad for men who are
taught that their role is to protect etc.

However, sometimes you just can't fix the problem.

Of course, there are special cries, like the sound of a baby crying that
are particularly agrevating - because you can't do anything about it.

As far as I know, the only way you can get better at this is to deliberately
surround yourself occasionally by people crying and de-sensitize yourself.

There’s nothing wrong with you, darlin! You have probably cried enough tears yourself. As long as you don’t laugh at people when they cry, then don’t let it worry you. Just tell them you are sorry, then use the exit. It doesn’t mean you are ‘uncaring’… Chances are, you are ‘too caring’ and using the exit is something you need to do for your own healing!

i get that way too. i don't know how to console people but i do like to be consoled. when i see them cry i just stare at them and get all confuse i don't know what to tell them or do. Most of the time though i try to just go and hug them and tell them not to cry no more and bring up a funny memory he/she had with me. then they start laughing. once i get them laughing i feel more comfortable and proud that i did. but no there is nothing wrong with you. i got the same problem because if we don't have any funny memories together i don't know what to do except stare. and it makes me feel bad.

I can't handle it either. With children I can comfort them, but I can't with adults because this voice inside my head says that they have no right to cry. The only reason I can accept for an adult to cry is to get attention, and I can't deal with adults who cry for attention. If someone is truly sad, they may cry, but I have a hard time empathizing because I have been unable to cry for almost ten years now. I've wanted to, but I just can't :)

Just make sure that people (or children) do not use crying to manipulate you. Develop a strategy about how to deal with it. You need also a tactical approach. One method is to look people in the forehead. They think you are looking at their eyes.

Crying usually means that people are of weak mind. Your a strong woman and don't know how to deal with that.

Nothing wrong with that. Many don't know how to handle or deal with it either. Best to just understand that people need empathy at times and when it happens to you, you will finally understand why.

either you aren't up for anyone s***. or something happen to you that you aren't dealing with. maybe you feel like you don't know what can be said or down without making the situation worse. but next time, just try to listen you might be in the same position and could use some help.

Well.. do you like crying or showing weakness? Chances are you run from those situations because you don't want to be in that person's place... Just remember you're in complete control of yourself. Have confidence in your feelings =)

Maybe something in your past. I don't think it is that odd. I would think many people are that way. Does it make you want to cry? Maybe you need to get in touch with your feelings and explore this more.
