Ok, so I'm new at raising rabbits. I brought the doe into my buck's cage and they went wild! I knew rabbits loved to mate, but this was amazing! The buck serviced the doe about 8 or 9 times all within a half hour! So anyway, I'm confused why the doe would mount my buck and try to mate. She did this a few times. Confused gender roles? Also, she would bite into his fur all over his back for reasons I don't understand. Any bunny raisers out there that can shed some light here?

Don't breed your rabbits! There are so many in shelters as it is. You should at least do research before you add to the overpopulation problem.

Rabbits sexual behavior is reallly weird, I'll tell you why. If you put 2 male rabbits in a cage together they will compete and try to bite each other's privates off. Don't know why but female rabbits can get along. 1 male and 1 female always try to mate because they are bored in the cage and some want to reproduce. Hope this helps

it relatively is no longer completely regular, yet no longer a foul subject. maximum rabbits are not that comfortable around human beings at that age and it may take time to construct the bond. It seems such as you're doing particularly properly with your rabbit. Many breeders can tell the intercourse of a rabbit at 3-4 weeks, so your rabbit isn't too youthful to tell. Rabbits would properly be problematical to tell in case you do no longer comprehend what to seem for. maximum breeders would desire to be waiting to tell with the aid of 8 weeks. you will desire to comprehend for specific with the aid of 4-5 months whilst a adult males testicles would drop.

Sometimes rabbits mount each other to demonstrate dominance. I used to have two female bunnies and they mounted each other all the time! i'm pretty sure they're not lesbians... And they used to bite each other's fur too, until both of them had bald spots on their backs... pretty hilarious. Anyways i seperated them for awhile and waited for their fur to grow back. but as they got older they stopped doing that.
i guess bunnies sometimes do things that we find weird.

My rabbits used to do the same thing. My male rabbit would try to hump all the wrong spots on the female also. It was pretty funny to watch.

Actually that's not wierd at all when you compare that to other animals. Many other animals do the same thing. I've seen cattle and other animals do the same thing. It's common. It's just that you are not used to seeing that.
