Depends on what you mean by "one friend". People have many different levels of friends - acquaintances, close friends and best friends. acquaintances are usually those you just say "hi" or "bye" kinda friend. Close friends are usually people you see and meet everyday. Best friends are those you are willing to share your inner thoughts and feelings with.
But in general , people are social beings, and we need to have plenty of friends to keep our social needs in check.

Because people are imperfect and will let you down, so it is best to have a wider support network. Also, why limit the love you have to give to just one person?

you can't live wh just one person to be your friend you should have more than one so you will turn to them when you need sth
