honestly. i think its kind of funny. but on the other hand it really bothers me that everyone in my school thinks that it is the real world when instead it is some kind of strange imitation of the world inside of a building where all of these hormone crazy teenagers try to be "sophisticated." high school is high school and we are still kids. and when we are eighty years old it won't matter whether or not everyone thought we were "cool" when we were sixteen.

It is sad actually because it costs people thousands of dollars and opportunities for College. Amazing how just a few points more on the SATs/ACTs and a couple higher average points make such a difference in scholarships and acceptance. Even your activities make a difference. But some teens think they know it all and are more concerned about their cloths or whoo thinks what about them. As soon as high school is over, it all changes. The people who valued education and took advantage of their opportunities will be in the schools of their choice with loads of scholarships, while the posers will struggle toget into their community colleges or not go to college at all.

Very true, you have a good head on your shoulders.

I'll tell you a story....when I was in high school there was this really popular girl, all the girls wanted to be her, all the boys wanted to be with her, she was good at sports, but not very clever and she was also a *****. At 16, she fell pregnant and missed out on her exams. She now lives in a bedsit with 2 screaming brats, no job, no money, no man to take care of her and no life.

On the other hand, there was a girl that was a bit geeky, always studying and very religious. She didn't have a boyfriend and she wasn't great at sports. People made fun of her, but she didn't care. Now she is at Medical School studying to become a Paediatrician and is engaged to be married.

So just because someone has it all in high school, it doesn't mean everything will be perfect in their future.

Take care : )

it comes as a bit of smack-in-the-face how similar but also drastically different high-school is to the "real" world and university, if you continue your education. There will always be those who act in a superior fashion, or just party and get wasted and make those who don't, feel inferior. It's some sort of complex that people have. But it does get better- people learn that they have to work to succeed!

What? High School? you damn kids get off my lawn! :P

Glad your down that path, I hope you live it in person instead of just saying it out loud on the net then pretend to be part of that sophistication in HS.

People will learn, people will learn. It's not your job to teach them, it's your personal responsability to teach yourself however. I understand the frustration - I was there at one point - but instead of letting it get to you, really try to teach yourself better. Forget about other people, in the real world, they don't matter that much anyway.

Sadly honey some people are still like that after they get out of high school. All of those "sophisticated" girls gain 30 lbs though hehehe

You are correct, but we all go though this. We want to be cool, popluar etc. It was very important then, but you will grow out of it. Enjoy the time you have in school as you will never get the time back.

No because it is the real world for those who are currently in highschool. It may seem frivolous to me because I'm beyond that but to discount it and say it's not "real" is patronizing and rude. It's very real to those going through it right now.

That might be true, but it is practice for the real world (I guess)... you are right though... it won't matter when you are 80, hell, it won't even matter when you are 20.
