What is it about bodily noises that amuse men so much?

They're funny because they're mildly inappropriate. It's getting to do something you know you shouldn't but not having to worry that anyone will get in your face about it (because everybody makes those noises at some time so eventually, it's forgiveable).
Men have developed a greater appreciation for farts, burps and varts (vaginal farts, for anyone wondering) because we're designed to test limits (social and otherwise) whereas women are designed to maintain smooth social relations. If this is a cultural thing then expect more women to appreciate those bodily sounds as established roles between the sexes blur.
Btw, a fart becomes more amusing in direct proportion to the seriousness of the ocassion it occurs. Try letting one rip at a wedding...hilarious for the guys but not so for the bride.

Good question! I have to admit, sometimes I'm still a college boy at heart.

Maybe it's somehow related to "marking territory." Maybe it has to do with offending and being dominant over those who would try to "tame" or "civilize" us. Maybe it just tickles my sense of the world not being neat and tidy - just when everything is going perfectly, life reminds you that you're not in control. You belch during a job interview. You pass wind in church.

Maybe we're just pigs!!!
