Coca-Cola and some aluminum foil. Coke has a small amount of phosphoric acid that is the bite you experience in the taste. That kind of acid is often used in the cleaning of many types of alloys.

Mothers chrome polish is the best chrome cleaner/polish i've used. There's a rust remover i've used on my rims called THE MUST FOR RUST ... never had problems. They sell it at home depot.

Man, that's a tough one. If you let surface rust start, it's tough to stop. They make rust remover, you just have to be careful and not use anything abrasive.

Go to the local auto parts store and look for "chrome polish" it's the best way to do what you want without screwing up the finish.

I have always had the best luck with stuff called SEMI-CHROME a polish you can buy at the HARLEY dealer.
