Yes, there isn't a problem with that. Those names were around long before Disney decided to use them for the characters. The ones that would be a little weird would be like sleeping beauty or cinderalla but jasmine and areial are acutally common

Think about how an unusual name will affect them in the future. I think Jasmine or Ariel are common enough names that if you name your baby either of them it will not affect them later on in life.

I like Jasmine, not too sure about Ariel though.
My cousin is called Yasmin and would give anything to have been called Jasmine.

I work with someone who's daughter is named Jasmine - and come to think of it, I didn't even associate the name with the movie until you just mentioned it!! I love those names, they are very sweet! =)

Both cute names for cartoon characters, but a kid gets it for life....psychology recognizes that names show parents educational
experience, cartoon names come under the category of low education. Although Wendy made out OK. Made up name for a character.

Please don't do this to your children, if you like the names use them but NEVER tell anyone you picked them because they were Disney characters. Trust me I speak from personal experience. I was named after a Disney character (incidentally, NEVER let your older children name the new ones) school was traumatic!

I don't think it's cool to name them after Disney characters. However, if you really do appreciate those names because of the sound of them, not because their animated characters than name them that.
