I think my husband has a Hiatal Hernia..can you have that without having heartburn or acid reflux?

It is unlikely that it is a hernia without the symptom of having acid reflux especially when laying down immediately after eating. A Minor hernia may not have symptoms.

yes it has nothing to do with acid reflux or heart burn, it is a tear in the lining

This is an x-ray diagnosis. I have no idea how you know, but yes people do have them without symptoms and they do not require treatment.
