I've been chatting with this girl I met on an Internet discussion forum for over a year now. Then she showed me her picture and I never spoke to her again. I also blocked her on AIM. Is this a nice thing to do, in other words, did she have it coming to her for being so ugly?

No, that's horrible. The poor girl. Just because she is ugly doesn't mean you should completely dis-own her. I can see maybe you not wanting to date her because you are not physically attracted to her but you can still be a nice person and be her friend. She didn't choose be ugly and if you've been talking to her for a whole year she must be nice and friendly. Keep talking to her, be her friend, you don't have to be more than that.

It's really your own prerogative...
You chose and believe that looks matter more than anything else.. i can't really blame you there, most people would have done what you did.
I suggest that the next time this happens to you, you could at least let the girl know that you are not interested in her because you don't associate yourself with ugly people. Then she can at least move on with her life, look for somebody who'd accept her not-so-beautiful self and not wonder what happened to you.

You are a little harsh in your words, but i know what you mean...i have talked to a few guys that, in my mind, i had down as nice looking, but when i saw their photos i never sent another message. I know how shallow this is and i am very embarassed by it. I dont ask for piccys anymore, i prefer to keep the handsome image i have of them in my head...
